They regret it because they got ripped off.

The interior design company that walked off with the money is Bodner and Beardsley Designs and they talked a good game when it came how great they are.

But they're also good at something else -- taking money and disappearing.

"They didn't BS while they were here," Tom Mannino said. "They BSed when they left."

Mannino said that pretty much sums up the experience he and his wife, Elaine, had with the interior decorating company.

"They were just nice, very nice guys," Mannino said. "They seemed very honest."

Those nice guys are Sean Bodner and P.J. Beardsley, owners of Bodner and Beardsley Designs.

3 On Your Side managed to get a photo of Bodner from a previous run-in with the law.

The Manninos hired Bodner and Beardsley to freshen up their Surprise home with some furniture, painting and new window treatments.

To get started, Mannino said he gave the decorators $3,500 -- half of the total bill.

That was a year ago, but the Manninos say they have received nothing from the two designers -- not even a phone call.

"I knew there was something fishy going on here," Mannino said.

So, 3 On Your Side tried contacting Bodner and Beardsley. We tried talking to Bodner at his Phoenix home, but he never came to the door. However, he did call us back once.

At first he agreed to sit down with 3 On Your Side. We wanted to know why he took off with the couple's money. But then, he changed his mind.

"I just feel like I would be walking into a lion's den," Bodner said.

3 On Your Side discovered that Bodner and Beardsley have a history of taking money from people and not giving anything in return.

According to court documents, a Coconino County court ruled that Bodner and Beardsley should repay a woman $14,000. Apparently, Bodner and Beardsley never even showed up to court to defend themselves.

In 2004, another judgment was levied against Bodner and Beardsley, this time for $15,000. They have yet to satisfy either of those debts and have seemingly vanished.

"When they disappeared, they disappeared totally," Mannino said.

Now, Elaine and Tom Mannino are out $3,500 to Bodner and Beardsley.

The couple say it's a only a matter of time before these two interior designers paint themselves into a corner.

"They should be ashamed of themselves," Elaine Mannino said. "How could they do this to anybody? It's thievery!"

I smell a part two coming up and I know there are more people out there who are looking to get refunds from Bodner and Beardsley. We'll keep you up to date with new details.
