Phoenix, AZ 11/13/07 - A one-of-a-kind, Web-based baby room design
company opened its virtual doors recently when www.storkroom.com
officially launched its online storefront.
Storkroom offers nine, 4-piece bedding sets, each of them accompanied
by primary and secondary paint swatches matched specifically to the
fabric by a professional interior designer and a $75 Sherwin-Williams
gift card to help cover the cost of paint.
"I know so many couples who have struggled to design their nurseries,"
says Julie Tsuchiya, owner and director of design of Storkroom. "They
purchased their bedding from one store, went somewhere else for the
paint and when they finished the project, nothing matched."
Tsuchiya has streamlined the design process by offering baby bedding
sets that come with suggested paint colors, an innovative service she
developed and one that comes with a significant savings to consumers.
"There are a lot of expectant parents out there who would love to have
their nursery designed by a professional interior designer, but the
cost of those services is restrictive, especially for a young couple on
a budget," Tsuchiya says.
"Storkroom offers baby bedding and paint packages assembled and
designed by professional interior designers at a fraction of the cost."
Fees associated with paint selection and custom baby bedding design run
upwards of $3,000 when hiring an interior designer, says Tsuchiya, who
holds a Bachelor's degree in interior design. Storkroom offers those
same services in its baby bedding design packages for $699.
Each of the nine baby bedding design packages - three boy designs,
three girl designs, and three unisex designs for those traditionalists
who choose to wait to discover their baby's gender - comes with a
comforter, bumper, bed skirt, valance, matching paint swatches and the
$75 Sherwin-Williams gift card to help cover the cost of wall
coverings.
Exclusively offering Sherwin-Williams paint made good business sense to
Tsuchiya, given the wall covering company's strong presence across the
U.S. and its reputation for offering high quality paint in a wide
variety of colors.
"Sherwin-Williams operates more than 3,200 stores in North America and
90 percent of the population lives within 30 minutes of one of its
retail outlets," Tsuchiya says. "More than that, the company's paint is
high quality and I would want nothing less for my customers."
Each of Storkroom's baby bedding designs feature two fabric selections
with themes ranging from a retro cowboy print for boys to a girl's
bedding set featuring well-dressed silhouettes of women toting shopping
bags. Tsuchiya says she was careful to blend modern sophistication with
designs popular during her childhood, giving expectant mothers and
fathers a choice beyond the teddy bear and circus prints popular at
many retail outlets.
"Storkroom provides baby bedding selections for parents who appreciate
contemporary, fun designs," she says. "As we grow, we'll continue to
add to our selection and update our looks as the tastes of our clients
dictate."
Visitors to the Web site can view images and descriptions of each of
Storkroom's designs. After selecting their baby bedding design package,
customers are seamlessly directed to the secure checkout page to
complete their purchase.
"I'm providing a one-stop-shop solution for expectant parents who
couldn't otherwise afford to hire an interior designer," Tsuchiya says.
"If we make the process of designing nurseries easier and more
affordable for people, than we've achieved what we hoped."
About Storkroom:
It was in mid-2006 during an hour-long commute to work when the idea
for Storkroom was born. Owner and Director of Design for Storkroom,
Julie Tsuchiya, an interior designer specializing in model home design
wanted to develop a business allowing her to utilize her professional
talents while affording her the opportunity to work from home to be
closer to her two school-age children, and a third, whose January 2007
due date was quickly approaching.
Her thoughts of starting a company were interrupted by a design idea
for her baby's room. Then it came to her: a baby room in a box.
Julie developed the idea of combining everything needed to design a
baby room in one single kit - from the comforter, bumper, sheet, duster
and window treatment to the perfect color of complementary paint. The
benefit, of course, is that Storkroom customers not only avoid the
hassle of driving from store to store in search of matching fabric and
paints, they also get the assurance of a professionally designed
nursery at a fraction of what it would cost to hire an interior
designer.
