A New Home is a series of ten chromogenic prints by Toronto artist Stefanie Fiore, who takes a look at the homes of Italian-Canadian families in an attempt to capture a distinctive style that reflects the cultural shift that occurs through immigration.
The homes have a palatial or museum air about them, ornately decorated
in a formal manner to demonstrate prosperity. Success in a new land has
been attained though hard work and is now on display for all to
understand. Family photos and religious icons accessorize the dense
layers of patterns and textures.
